Holiday Central …

Well, one holiday down and few more big ones coming up. If you survived the family Thanksgiving followed by Black Friday you are a warrior. This is my favorite time of the year for parties and I have Howard’s maids scheduled for an extra cleaning adding my refrigerator and oven for preparation for the upcoming food fests. Baking cookies and candies is my favorite tradition. Messy, but fun. This year I tried to find calorie free treats….to no avail and who really wants to eat that stuff during this fun pig out time. plus, everyone will be joining the gym in January, right?

I am having a meeting at my home tomorrow finalizing plans for serving the homeless Thanksgiving Dinner. I have one member who always secretly inspects my bathroom. Daughters Wedding…

What a rare feeling… I had to pause to comprehend it… Am I losing a daughter… “She reminds me”, that I am gaining a son-in-law… and a wonderful one at that. What an astonishing feeling. How special and unique, to be able to participate, and witness such an event. Lucky to be alive! h

Well, it’s post Halloween and how many of you are in a sugar coma? I am for sure. I had a fun old fashion Halloween party last night bobbing for apples and games with some spills and chills….enough that I had to schedule a cleaning from Howard’s House Cleaning Referral Agency in Laguna Woods. Who knew these senior citizens could get so into the festivities….with just one spirited drink? I had each sign in with a disclosure of 1. Who is on what medication 2. Who is diabetic? 3. Who will need a ride? 4. And who will need a walker to get home ? I provided extra walkers for those who had more than one drink. It was a fun, fun night!

TIME CHANGE

Time change

Am I the only one that see this as a waste of time? I have lived in two states that do not participate in day light savings time and several states that do. I realized that the summer days are longer and the winter days are shorter….simple as that, no need to change the time from “leap forward to fall back” twice a year. Nature does it naturally. The people who have to change Stonehenge must be exhausted! Oh well, with this extra hour I guess I will make more memories than usual.

Just got back from a trip visiting with my brother, who lives in Oklahoma

Just got back from a trip visiting with my brother, who lives in Oklahoma. It’s a yearly trip and always iffy with the weather. Last year a tremendous tornado hit their ranch the night before I had to leave. This year flying out Dallas the night before I left another tremendous tornado! I am getting the hint that those states are letting me know it’s a bad time of year to travel there. Wonder if the tornado gods find it amusing to scare the pucky out of me. I felt so much better getting back to my earthquake prone state. The message to me is that life is a crap shoot and you are either lucky or not. The real treat coming home was my clean home that Howard’s House Cleaning Referral Agency maids had cleaned the day before I arrived.
